Raw Foods Can Hurt Your Thyroid
If you find you’re gaining weight eating a lot of raw veggies, check out this list of foods that may be hurting your thyroid!
Broccoli
Brussel Sprouts
Cabbage
Canola Oil
Cassava root
Cauliflower
Kale
Millet
Mustard Greens
Peaches
Peanuts
Pinenuts
Radishes
Rutabagas
Soybeans
Spinach
Strawberries
Turnips
These foods contain goitrogens and high sulfur levels that can interfere with iodine and other minerals necessary to keep your thyroid in top metabolic form. Now cooked versions are fine, except for soy and tofu, which contain high levels of isoflavones. As little as 30mg of isoflavones a day can block your estrogen response and result in weight gain, high cholesterol and raised insulin levels, especially if you have borderline thyroid function. You can read much more about the impact of soy in The Menopause Diet and You’re Not Crazy It’s Your Hormones!.
